Open a file. Watch it.
Ferox Player is a media player for the Mac on our own playback engine. It keeps the habits of the players you already know and removes what gets in the way. The seek step lives on screen, the next file is one key away, and nothing ends in “format not supported”.
Familiar habits, without the irritations.
We did not reinvent gestures or shortcuts. We took the way people already use video players and fixed what annoys them.
The seek step is on screen
Choose 3, 5, 10 or 30 seconds right in the player, without opening settings. Arrows take the small step, Shift the large one, holding scrubs continuously.
Next file in one key
Move to the next or previous file without going back to a list. The order is visible on screen, and you choose it.
Tracks and subtitles in one press
Audio tracks and subtitles are one press away in the panel. An external subtitle file next to the video is picked up by name.
Remembers where you stopped
Close at minute forty, open again and it continues from there, with a clear way to start over.
No dead ends
A file that will not play gets a diagnosis in plain words and one action to fix it.
Behaves like a Mac app
Drop a file on the window or the Dock icon, or double-click it in Finder. Full screen by double-click, Esc or the green button, the same way every time.
The step you seek by is always in view.
Most players hide the seek step deep in preferences. Ferox Player puts it on the shelf, next to the clock.
Change it while you watch. The default is 10 seconds.
What comes after the core.
Planned for the release that follows the first version.
Collects itself
Recently opened files gather on their own. Adding a folder is optional.
Open an address
Paste a link and it plays, the same way a file does.
Fix it in place
Normalisation and audio delay right in the panel.
