Television, the way it should work.
Ferox TV opens instantly, answers the remote and holds the picture when the connection drops. Bring your own playlist: the channel order, favourites and interface stay the same on the television and on the Mac.
Ferox TV is a player. It does not include channels, films or other content.
Built for the remote, not adapted to it.
Five things that make the difference on a big screen.
Search the programme, not the channel
Type a title. Ferox TV searches the whole programme guide, a week ahead and in the archive, and shows where and when it is on. Select a result and the right channel opens, or the recording if it has already aired.
Feeling lucky
Set a genre and a rating, or exclude what you are tired of. Ferox TV picks a film or a channel and shows how many options it chose from. Not the right mood: spin again.
One order for every device
Hide channels you never watch, rename, move favourites to the top and build shared favourites once, in the control panel. Every television and Mac receives the result. You also see which devices are online and on which version.
Live that holds
The programme guide sits under the player, with archive behind. About a minute of buffer absorbs short drops in the connection, and a backup source you have added takes over if the main one stops.
Films and series with a proper face
Posters, descriptions, genres and ratings are filled in even when the source sends bare titles. Playback resumes from the second you stopped. Series have seasons, episodes and watched marks.
Find the show. The channel follows.
The search runs across every channel’s guide at once: a week forward and the archive back.
One press opens what is on now. A showing that has passed opens from the archive.
4 showings on 2 channels · week ahead and archive
The server does the heavy work.
Devices only have to show the picture. That is why a television app can feel this quick.
Builds the catalogue
Playlists and the programme guide refresh on a schedule, without anyone touching them.
You decide what is visible
Hide, rename and reorder once, for every device.
Show the same
The television and the Mac read one catalogue and one set of favourites.
